Part I: Team Selection

• Create Team Schedule.

• Merge Deliverables 1-3 into a .pdf file titled "CIE439_Part_I_Group_13" and submit via UBLearns.

Part II: Network Selection and Data Collection

Deliverable 4

• Install SUMO. Complete Step 3 of "Task Instructions" and submit a screenshot of SUMO Performance.

Deliverable 5

• Visit the Greater Buffalo-Niagara Region Transportation Council (GBNRTC) data warehouse and select a section of the Buffalo network for our case study. Explain why the proposed section of the Buffalo network was selected.

Deliverable 6

• Obtain a satellite image of the intersection and surrounding area (include street names.) Obtain roadway characteristics (principal/minor arterials, connectors, speed limits, number of lanes, functionality of each lane, etc.)

Deliverable 7

• Obtain traffic count data from GBNRTC for evening/p.m. peak flow.

Deliverable 8

• Create network in SUMO (see Task Instructions.)

Deliverable 9

• Progress Report. Team Leader to submit a statement on member contribution/satisfaction.

PART II REPORT recommended due (08 1700 APR 2022)

Part III: Data Analysis and Design of Optimal Signal Plan

Deliverable 10

• Organize Traffic Data for signalized intersection and adjacent road segments. Be sure to convert Heavy Vehicles into equivalent Passenger Cars.
• Useful Resource: Traffic Signal Timing Manual, US DOT, FHA

Deliverable 11

• Input Traffic Data into SUMO (see Task Instructions.)

Deliverable 12

• Model the Network in SUMO and generate: static timing signal plan, fundamental diagrams, emissions report and others reports as may seem fit (e.g. average control delays, LOS, etc.)

Deliverable 13

• Design an Optimal Signal Plan.

Deliverable 14

• Discuss performance measures of proposed Signal Plan. Make sure to include a discussion on traffic emissions.

Deliverable 15

• Write a report describing the improvements of the Design Signal Plan versus the Current Signal Plan.

Deliverable 16

• Progress Report. Team Leader to submit a statement on member contribution/satisfaction.

PART III REPORT recommended due (15 1700 APR 2022)
